The Love Edition: Time After Time
THE LOVE EDITION: TIME AFTER TIME
OPENS FEB 9 through FEB 25, 2017
Inspired by ageless love stories and your lola’s addicting soap operas, 7 short original plays about Love, Heartache and the Weirdness in between will grace the Bindlestiff Studio stage just in time for Valentine’s Day.
TLE’s theme this year spotlights melodramas throughout the ages. Tales of the star-crossed and lovelorn have captivated generations of audiences across the world through soap operas, teleseryes, telenovelas, Korean dramas and the like. TLE invites audience members to embrace, critique, honor, and reinvent the emotional spectacle of the melodrama genre.

VISUAL ART SHOW: KICKIN’ IT AT LOLA’S
For The Love Edition: Time After Time, Bindlestiff Studio will feature artist Robin Birdd - an installation and conceptual artist based out of Oakland, California, Robin is inspired by childhood memories of play, discovery, and coming of age experiences. Birdd’s art relies heavily on re-telling stories and questioning adulthood. She utilizes large-scale installation as a platform to create alternative experiences with an emphasis on human interaction and process. By using sensory stimulation, Birdd’s work is able to communicate through experience rather than observation. Birdd received her BA at San Francisco State University with an emphasis in Studio Art. In her last curated show with the Macro Waves collective, entitled Escape to yesteryear, Birdd spearheaded a multimedia, site-specific theater performance for a production that was featured in East Bay Express’s Event Pick of the Week.
In kickin it at Lola's, Birdd recreates a moment in time when you’re stuck at your grandma's house and you discover that you're just as addicted to that telenovela she’s obsessed with. You secretly can't wait for your parents to drop you off at lolo and lola's house so you can find out what happens next! By creating two contrasting environments, a forest inside lola's living room, Birdd's installation challenges the fictional aspects associated with soap opera culture. www.robinbirdd.com
